Holding yourself in high regard means, first and foremost, believing in yourself. You know that you are valuable and good even though you don’t always succeed in your daily projects. Putting yourself down is never a solution. Each experience you have can be positive, as long as you process it and adapt your behaviour accordingly. If you are dissatisfied with yourself, it might, for instance, be a good idea to say: “As I see it, something went wrong. Next time I can do it better. Nevertheless, I love myself exactly as I am with all my “rough edges”. You learn self-esteem by taking care of, and doing something for, yourself every day. You can find true esteem only within yourself. It doesn’t make sense to demand it from others, expect to find it or search for it in others. Your feelings regarding self-worth will be mirrored by others. In other words, you receive from others exactly what you give yourself. The outside world is always a reflection of your own thoughts and beliefs, though this reflection may be displaced in time.
